Miraculous Liska icon

Since ancient times the town of Lisko / now Lesko - on territory of Poland / was a great forgiven place of the Mari cult. Some historians say that the Miracle-working icon was already in place at the beginning of the construction of Ukrainian church of the Nativity of the Virgin. She appeared on a stump of cut oak. The wretched wooden church was burning in the time of fire, but the wall, where was the icon of the Liska Theotokos remained untouched. In the time of the restoration of 2007 it was discovered that the Miracle-working icon is actually scorched from behind. During the First World War, precious jewels - vots, which were of great material value, were stolen from the icon. Thanks to the miraculous icon, which glory was very big, people from Galicia, Slovakia and Hungary came to the poor church. The greatest days of the commemoration of the Mother of God were released: at the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin and at the feast of the Regulations of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The miraculous icon of Lysk healed physical and spiritual ailments of people. Last pastor of Lysa Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Julian Chuchkevich wrote records of miracles of healings in front of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God. The intention was to publish a thorough book on these miracles, and in the first Bolshevik occupation of 1939-1941, records fell into the hands of the godless occupiers and were destroyed as evidence of a true faith in the Lord, the Father of the Most High.

In 1946, the "Wisla" operation was notoriously known, during which, according to the Molotov-Ribbentrop secret treaty, a million Ukrainians were evicted from their native lands and scattered around the world. The order to evict residents of Lysk came to the very holiday of Jordan, on the street there was a crisp frost. For packing up was given 24 hours, it was allowed to take with them the most necessary things. People could not leave on the fate of the greatest shrine of Lyska and Peremilshchyna - a miraculous icon. People from the church brotherhood: Roman Spolsky, his father, Mykola, Yevstahi and Myroslav Kitsak, with the sons of Oleksa and Volodymyr, Pavel Veremiysky and his sons, asked the old pastor of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin in Lysk to allow the miraculous icon and the most valuable things from the church to be taken. Pastor Liska the senior man Julian Chuchkevich gave the keys from the church and blessed the journey. Roman Spozsky took an icon from the church, brought it to Mr. Irzi, wrapped in clothes and put in a prepared wooden box.

January 25, 1946, forest settlers arrived in Stryi and with the blessing of the rector of the church Ivan Bachinsky placed a miraculous icon in the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Since then, many Striyans are affectionately praying before the Miracle-working icon. A large number of healings and reversals are recorded in the Assumption Temple of Striy.

In the summer of 2007, during the restoration of the miraculous icon of the Lyska Theotokos, the head of the Department of Restoration of Temperamental Painting at Lviv College of Lviv, Boris Ivanov wrote:

"While working on the icon, I was pleasantly impressed when the young Strian round faced man was praying near the icon kissing it and saying: "This icon is extremely lovely and dear to me! I owe to it! .." After some time: "Sir, thank you, I was incurably ill with leukemia but my sincere prayer to Lysiska Mother of God ... her miraculousness healed me from a severe illness, gave me life." Ending solemnly, said: "Today I am in front of you. I am the priest !!!". The stranger smiled, wished success and said goodbye ... and I was filled with light; "What is this?!, Where is the limit of real and irreal?"

Today, on Wednesday, the Prayer is preached in front of the Wonderful Lishka icon, prayers for healing are read. Also every month from 12 to 13 date there are night prayers, the situation of Riza and the time of the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary are being forgiven.

Чудотворна Ліська ікона

З давніх часів містечко Лісько /нині Lesko  – знах. на території Польщі/ було великим відпустовим місцем Марійського культу. Деякі історики твердять, що Чудотворна ікона вже існувала на початку будівництва заміської української церкви Різдва Богородиці. Вона показалася на пні зрізаного дуба. Вбога дерев’яна церковця в часі пожеж горіла, але стіна, на якій була ікона Ліської Богородиці залишалася неушкодженою. В часі реставрації 2007 р. виявлено, що Чудотворна ікона насправді з-заду  є обгорілою. В часі першої світової війни з ікони були вкрадені дорогоцінні коштовності – воти, які становили велику матеріальну цінність. Завдяки чудотворній іконі, слава про яку була дуже велика, до убогої церкви сходилися люди з  Галичини, Словаччини і Угорщини. Найбільшими днями вшанування Божої Матері були відпусти: у свято Різдва Пресвятої Богородиці  і у празник Положення Ризи Пресвятої Богородиці.

Чудотворна ікона з Ліська зціляла фізичні і духовні недуги людей. Останній парох Ліської церкви Різдва Богородиці о. Юліан Чучкевич вів записи про чуда уздоровлень перед Чудотворною іконою Матері Божої. Мав намір видати грунтовну книгу про ці чуда, та в першу більшовицьку окупацію 1939—1941 рр. записи потрапили у руки безбожних окупантів і були знищені, як свідчення істинної віри у Господа, Отця Всевишнього.

В 1946 році відбувалася сумно відома операція „Вісла“, в час якої згідно таємного договору Молотова-Рібентропа мільйон українців було виселено з рідних прадідівських земель і розкидано по світі. Наказ на виселення мешканцям Ліська прийшовся на саме Свято Йордану, на вулиці стояв тріскучий мороз. На зібрання дали 24 години, з собою дозволили брати найнеобхідніше.  Люди не могли залишити напризволяще найбільшу святиню Ліська і Перемильщини — Чудотворну ікону. Люди з церковного братства: Роман Спольський, його батько Микола, Євстахій і Мирослав Кіцак з синами Олексою і Володимиром, Павло Веремійський з синами просили старенького пароха церкви Різдва Богородиці у Ліську дозволу забрати Чудотворну ікону і найцінніші речі з церкви. Парох Ліська перестарілий о. Юліян Чучкевич дав ключі від церкви і благословив на дорогу. Роман Спольський зняв ікону у церкві, приніс до п. Ірзи, обмотали в одяг і поклали в приготовлений дерев’яний ящик.

25 січня 1946 р. ліські переселенці  прибули до  Стрия і з благословення настоятеля церкви о. Івана Бачинського помістили Чудотворну ікону в церкві Успіння Пресвятої Богородиці. Відтоді багато стриян зазнають ласки молячись перед Чудотворною іконою. Велике число уздоровлень і навернень зафіксовано в Успенському храмі Стрия.

В літку 2007 в часі реставрації Чудотворної ікони Ліської Богородиці завідувач відділу реставрації темперного малярства львівського коледжу ім. Труша п. Борис Іванів записав:

„під час роботи над іконою я був приємно вражений, коли молодий круглолиций стриянин помолившись біля ікони поцілував її і засвідчив: „Ця ікона надзвичайно мені дорога і близька! Я завдячую їй!..” По якійсь хвилі мовив далі: „Пане добродію, я був невиліковно хворий на білокрів’я та щира молитва моєї матері до Ліської Матінки Божої … її чудотворність оздоровила мене від важкої недуги, дарувала мені життя.” Закінчуюючи урочисто, мовив „Сьогодні я перед вами. Я священик!!!” Незнайомець усміхнувся, побажав успіхів і попрощався… а мене заполонили роздуми; „Що це?!, де межа реального та ірреального?”

На сьогоднішній день що середи служиться Молебень перед Чудотворною Ліською іконою, читаються молитви на зцілення, щомісяця з 12 на 13 число відбуваються нічні чування, на положення Ризи та в часі празника Успіння Пресвятої Богородиці відбуваються великі відпусти.
